Founded in 1897 by James Grant, the owner of Glen Grant, this distillery was originally called Glen Grant No.2. Closed five years later, it did not reopen until 1965, under the name Caperdonich, before being mothballed in 2002 and demolished in 2010. Distilled on 13th June 1995, this version begins by shining a spotlight on an extraordinary strength of character in which spices and chillies play a key galvanizing role. Once this vibrant decor has been put in place, it leaves no doubt about its Speyside identity, inviting us to an abundance of fruits.

Colour: Burnished gold with glints of topaz.

Profile: The concentrated initial nose is very spicy (pepper, nutmeg) and fruity (Mirabelle plum, green apple). Allowed to breathe, it becomes hot (paprika), vanilla and honeyed. The assertive attack is mentholated and peppery . The mid-palate wavers between citrus fruit and exotic fruit. Note its extremely delicate minerality. The silky finish is is liquorice and chocolatey, almost earthy.

This whisky was disgorged and bottled under the supervision of Andrew W. Symington (Managing Director) in the Town of Pitlochry on 18th July 2018.
