Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old
By appointment to their late Majesties, Queen Victoria, King Edward VII and King George V.
Sweetly perfumed, then lightly firmer, this subtle and woody malt is typical of the highland style. The lingering finish has a fin sandalwood character.
Neighbour to the Queen's Highland castle, Balmoral, Royal Lochnagar is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries. It has just two exquisite little copper pot-stills.
The Lochnagar distillery was established in 1845. It was soon visited by an approving Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and shortly after this became Royal Lochnagar.
Royal Lochnagar remains true even today to it's simple origins as a farm. Whisky is still made here in stone buildings and even the former stables and corn lofts are put to good use.
Spring water flows down to the distillery through the balmoral estate from the lower slopes of Lochnagar, the forbidding summit to the south.
The exquisite little copper pot-stills, again amongst the smalles in Scotland, make a most refined malt, fit for all occasions.
