Glenesk (Hillside) Distillery
About Glenesk (Hillside) Distillery:
Founded as Highland Esk distillery in 1897. It was renamed North Esk Distillery by JF Caille when they took over the distillery in 1899. in 1964 the distillery was converted to produce malt whisky and was renamed Hillside Distillery. Hillside Distillery was then renamed Glenesk in 1980. In 1985 the distillery was closed and in 1996 the stills were removed and all the buildings were demolished except for the maltings.
