Palate
Ripe cherries and succulent red plums beautifully layered with candied orange peel and honeyed figs, then delicate floral notes of violets. Subtle clove spice emerge, complemented by a touch of vanilla and toasted oak.
Details
Initially matured in refill and hogshead casks, the whisky was then finished in first-fill Sangiovese wine casks, from the Valdarno di Sopra region in Tuscany, Italy.
Finishing is the malt master’s art of taking a whisky that’s been matured for the majority of its life in one type of cask, and placing it in another cask type for a period of time to add an extra dimension of flavour. The goal is to use this cask type to complement and elevate the signature character of Aberfeldy, not mask it.
