Ardmore 1998 20 Year Old, Whisky Trail
Details
The Whisky Trail is a collection of young and old casks, taking drinkers off the beaten path of whisky. Only whiskies that demonstrate the most exceptional characteristics are hand-selected to be bottled as part of The Whisky Trail range, and with each cask as unique as a fingerprint, no two expressions will ever be the same. To ensure each whisky maintains its full flavour and cask character, theynever chill-filter or add colour.
Distilled in 1998, this Ardmore was aged in a single hogshead for more than twenty years. While its Highland peat character has mellowed, it has also developed coastal notes more usually associated with whiskies from the Hebrides, as well as some charming vanilla and herbs. Only 276 bottles produced.
NOSE: A vanilla ice cream on a windy beach – with flake. Sherbert lemons and freshly-clipped seaside golf courses are joined by beach bonfires.
PALATE: Rich, rounded and sweet. Apples and pears roasted over a beach barbecue with candied lemons, sweet peat and savoury woodsmoke.
FINISH: Lemons and incense slowly fade to leave sweet vanilla and soft smoke.
