From Ex-Sherry European Oak casks.
One of only 2892 bottles available worldwide.
Official notes:
Appearance - Polished copper or beech. Excellent beading.
Nose - Extremely reserved, but clearly savoury at first - almost sapid with hints of truffle oil, or earthy with a fruity sweetness as found in ginger cake with sultanas. This soon settles down to fruit cake mix with allspice and nutmeg.
Palate - Big, smooth textured and mouth filling, with a sweet and spicy nature. The first sip cools, then the taste catches fire!
Finish - Lengthy, chewy and warming, with a menthol effect, a hint of flint, then burnt currants on Christmas cake or dried orange peel.
Craig's notes from Diageo tasting session:
Full on fruity nose.
Lovely meatiness to the palate, leading to a warming finish, chewy for sure, I didn't get the menthol as per official notes. but got lots of spiciness coming through on the finish.
From Benrinnes Distillery, Speyside. Part of the 2014 Diageo Releases.
