Bunnahabhain 2006 14 Year Old Pedro Ximenez Cask #2
The Tasting Notes
Beautifully sweet with the Pedro Ximenez notes lifting the chocolate-coated toffee richness to an aroma crescendo.
Cappucino with whipped cream and dusted dark chocolate tiptoes towards a spiced desser-fruit mixture of subtly smoked cashew nuts lightly sprinkled with sea-salt.
An oaked raisin harmony is complemented by creamed cocoa before gently fading to a memory.
Details
This suitably bright, sweet and delightful Bunnahabhain single malt deserves to be limited to only a small number if bottles as its unique characteristics are temptingly 'moreish'! A magical finish, at 14 years of age, transports us to Jerez, in south-western Spain. It is hewre that their cask, hand-selected by their Master Distiller, would have embraced premium Pedro Ximenez sherry, leaving its distinct creamy sweetness in each crevice. The Bunnahabhain single malt has bathed in the 30 year old wooden cask for over two years, leaving the 'gentle taste of Islay' with which the brand is synonymous, slightly sweeter and creamier than usual.
