In 2005, Kevin Campbell (distillery worker at Lagavulin Distillery) and a team of Ileachs rowed around the coastline of Islay collected casks from each of the distilleries on the Island. The collected whisky was then married and bottled at Bruichladdich. The bottle was released online and raised £25,000 for the RNLI and Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund.

After their success, the decided to go one bigger and decided to turn the Islay Pillage into a Celtic Pillage in 2005 by including Jura and Bushmills distillery in Northern Island.
