Elements of Islay AR6 (Ardbeg)
Details
This is the sixth and newest release in this range of not so secret releases.
A first-fill bourbon barrel of Ardbeg, with all the muscular tones you would expect from the distillery. The sweetness blends with the smoke creating classic notes recognisable by all the distillery's fans.
Tasting notes...
Nose - Gentle and mild with notes of resin, grass and sweet porridge with honey. Sweet, fresh, white fruits are hiding behind a meaty and spicy smokiness. Picnic in a pine forest with Parma ham sandwiches marinated with mint, thyme, pepper and cumin, and a big portion of raita served as a side.
Palate - The fresh first-fill cask comes alive and is predominant on the palate. The spiciness is still there with a much bitter kick this time, while the whisky becomes creamier. Predominant is still the herbaceous smoke walking side by side a fresh lemon and lime zestiness.
Finish - Spicy and smoky medium finish. Smoked lemon peel with honey and vanilla biscuits with the classic mild meatiness, characteristic of this style of whisky.
