Details
Glasgow 1770 Amarone Cask Batch 1 is a limited release single malt Scotch whisky from The Glasgow Distillery, matured in casks that previously held Amarone della Valpolicella.
Amarone is a premium dry red wine from the Valpolicella region of Veneto in north-eastern Italy. Produced using local grape varieties including Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, it is defined by the traditional appassimento method, where grapes are partially dried after harvest to concentrate flavour before fermentation and ageing.
These wine casks are increasingly used in whisky maturation, as the seasoned oak brings additional depth and character to the spirit. In this release, the influence of Amarone casks highlights the interaction between Italian wine and Scotch whisky, creating a distinctive small batch bottling from Glasgow 1770.
