Glen Grant 1948
Details
Glen Grant Distillery is nestled deep in heart of Speyside overlooking the majestic River Spey. Glen Grant was established in 1840 by two brothers, the previously illicit distillers, John and James Grant.
The Glen Grant spirit is world renowned for its light, gentle character, due in part from the unique, almost square, section between the stills’ pot and the neck and the purifiers on the lye arms.

Cask 2148 | First fill Sherry hogshead, distilled 11th June 1948
Matured in first fill Sherry casks and golden amber in colour, this greatly aged Speysider was filled at one of the region’s foremost distilleries. The delightful nose reveals sweet, rich Sherry influences with beeswax polish aromas, delicious red apple peel, and a delicate hint of charred oak. Indulging in a small sip of this ancient single malt reveals a zesty combination of grapefruit and ripe Seville orange flavours underpinned by a lingering dark chocolate edge.
The addition of a small drop of clear spring water brings stewed fruits, prunes, and a subtle smoky cigar smoke aromas to the fore, whist the enchanting palate is sweet and smooth with layers of fruit cake, grapefruit, and citrus flavours, along with an underlying touch of tobacco smoke.
