Glenallachie 2008 12YO Murray McDavid Casks #1910865 & #1920865
Nestling at the foot of the iconic Ben Rinnes Mountain, at Speyside’s heart, lies the revived Glenallachie Distillery. Historically, this lavish malt has been mainly used for blending but its new owners are now bottling it as a single malt – a victory for whisky lovers. As they have done before with this offering, Murray McDavid is celebrating this excellent spirit in its pure form. This luscious Speysider has matured in a 600-litre Sherry butt for 11 years before being filled into two freshly emptied Limousin oak casks, previously used to mature Cognac. After a year, the enhanced spirit was reunited, having achieved a harmonious balance between French oak and fine Scottish spirit – a beautiful dram.
