Cask #170, Refill Butt
One of 683 Bottles.
Official Tasting Notes:
Colour: Burnt amber.
Nose: A very heavy nose. Red wine notes. Fruity - red plums and black grapes (but no twisted melons, man). Boiled sweets, very subtle dark chocolate notes and a slight hint of sweet BBQ sauce.
Taste: A cask officially and ambiguously described as 'refill butt'. However, the colour and flavour profile here suggest we may be dealing with a refill sherry butt – although this can neither be confirmed nor denied. Sweet and fruity, but not overwhelmingly so - it’ a refill, so the foot is slightly off the gas. Honeycomb, Demerara sugar, marzipan, stewed sultanas and cinnamon spice. Concludes with a touch of cracked black pepper.
