Details

Part of Highland Park's Warrior series, Ragnvald is aged in European oak, and American oak.

In 1153 Ragnvald planned an expedition to the prosperous city of Constantinople. Here the dangers were high and negotiating the treacherous and narrow waterways of the Black Sea around Constantinople were not easy. The intrepid of 15 ships with their fearsome futureheads found themselves under threat on constant ambush.

Ragnvald returned triumphantly to Orkney two years later, his longships laden with bounty. However, the Orkney he returned to had changed dramatically and in 1158 Earl Ragnvald and eight of his loyal men were attacked and killed by warriors royal to a rival Earl, Harald. Ragnvald war burried at St. Magnus Cathedral and later canonised as Saint Ronald of Orkney.

Today his heroics as an explorer have made him one of the most celebrated characters in Viking history.

Tasting notes..
Nose - Ripe damsons, oriental spices, candied peel and night scented stock.
Palate - Well-balanced smoke and sweet, grated nutmeg, vanilla pods and high cocoa chocolate.
Finish - Complex lingering gingery spiciness and smoke.
