Invergordon, located on the Cromarty Firth, does for the most part produce whisky for blending, a staggering 40,000,000 litres per year at that. Constructed in 1961, and currently one of only 6 grain distillieries in Scotland, Invergordon's Coffey still and use of corn as a predominant grain give the spirit a gentle, yet delicious vanilla sweetness. Their single cask bottling of Invergordon showcases flavours of toffee caramel, vanilla fudge, stewed pear with a touch of white pepper.

Tasting notes:
Colour: Autumnal Yellow Straw

Nose: Old school wood polish, rich with oak and beeswax. It is light, spiritous and delicate evoking the smell of a distant pear crumble with vanilla custard, it ambles gracefully into simple, wonderful sweet oak and a touch of citrus zest.

Palate: It is soft and oaky, the age is almost a flavour in and of itself making itself well known, this is the flavour equivalent of a Victorian library. There is a rich, delicate hint of sandalwood, leather bound books and pipe tobacco. It is the perfect autumnal evening dram, thought provoking and warm.

Finish: Astringent, mouth filling spice, gentle bitterness and a delicate sweetness like agave nectar. Simple, elegant and satisfying.
