Irish Single Malt Whiskey 2002 15 Year Old, Cut Your Wolf Loose
The Tasting Notes
Big apples that would make NYC jealous. Pear tarte tatin dumped under icing sugar. Honeycomb, malt biscuits and a gentle waxy note drifting about like a beekeeper who’s wandered into a bakery and started negotiating with the croissants.
Thick, chewy malt doing cannonballs into a pool of floral honey. Baked apples and poached pears immediately follow, causing big enough splash that would give any Irishman immediate Kiwi citizenship.
Long, warm and gently peppery. Honeyed malt and lemon zest hanging around like the last people in the bar asking for another drink when the chairs are on the table... (don’t be that person)
Details
Irish Single Malt Whiskey 2002 15 Year Old is a unique release from the Cut Your Wolf Loose series, bottled after an unusual maturation journey.
Distilled in 2002 and aged for 15 years, this Irish single malt spent time maturing in Scotland - a rare circumstance that nearly saw the cask rejected on arrival due to regulatory concerns. Ultimately, the whisky was allowed to continue its maturation, resulting in a distinctive and unconventional release.
This bottling highlights the experimental nature of independent releases, combining Irish distilling with maturation outside its traditional setting.
The presentation features artwork by Three Dogs, created specifically for this release and reflecting its unconventional story.
