Islay 6 Year Old - Single Minded

Douglas Laing's Single Minded series is a range of Small Batch Single Malts from across a variety of Scotch Whisky regions. Each is bottled exactly the way the distiller intended: without colouring or chill-filtration.

This expression, an Islay 6 Years Old, opens on the nose with coal dust, phenols and ash ahead of a sweeter barley backdrop. Anticipate a malty sweetness on the palate with a sugary and lightly smoked character, leading to a spicy, smoky finish.

Tasting notes.
The nose is immediately full of Islay phenols, with coal dust and ash ahead of a sweeter barley backdrop.
Palatewise, anticipate an initially mouthcoating malty sweetness, which shortly develops into camphor cough drop. A sugary and lightly smoked character all leads to a finish full of warming spices, dry leaf smoke and crunched sugar.

Could it be Lagavulin? Could it be Laphroaig? Could it be Caol Ila? who knows.. we do know that it was Matured and bottled by Douglas Laing & Co.
