The Tasting Notes
Lightly peated balanced with rich dark fruit flavours.
Details
This iconic, award-winning single malt was first introduced in 2021, featuring a distinctive six-cask recipe crafted by Master Distiller Alasdair Day. The Draam is inspired by a traditional style of Hebridean single malt whisky, yet delivers a lighter, more fragrant smokiness balanced with rich, dark fruit flavours. Honey gold in colour with subtle red wine hues, it offers a remarkable depth of flavour that belies its age.
As for the name, terms like "Original" or "Signature" simply didn’t capture the character of the whisky. Instead, a more playful and fitting title was chosen, one that gives a nod to both the Scottish word for a measure of whisky and the island of Raasay itself, with its abundance of "A’s." The Draam retains the same celebrated liquid, now with a fresh identity to help it stand out on the back bar and beyond.
The Draam is the Isle of Raasay Distillery’s award-winning signature single malt whisky, showcasing a carefully crafted recipe developed by Master Distiller Alasdair Day. It combines two distinct Raasay spirits, peated and unpeated, each matured separately in American rye whiskey, fresh Chinkapin oak, and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks. Every drop is distilled, matured, bottled, and shipped from the Isle of Raasay itself.
