'Petit Chien Brun' Calvados Pays D'Auge Mars Cask, 53.%
Details
The second Petit Chien Brun, a single cask Calvados from Christian Drouin, full maturation for 14 years in an ex Mars (Japanese whisky not confectionary or red planet) cask.
On the age side of things, it's not noted on the label, it's not that they didn't want to, THEY COMPLETELY FORGOT.
(it's why we love LBD)
Like all of Little Brown Dog single cask releases this is bottled at cask strength, non chill filtered and natural colour.
We really feel we need to stress just quite how special this wee dram is. 10 years older than a VSOP, 9 years older than an XO and in a fairly rare cask type!
Official notes from LBD:
Colour - Autumn Leaf
Nose - Crème caramel, cranberry sauce, health food shop
Palate - Wild lingonberries, dulce de leche, apple pie (obviously)
Finish - Dark marmalade, green chillies, liquorice allsorts (the pink and blue bobbly ones)
Much like the Linkwood earlier this Summer, LBD will be putting whisky into this Calvados cask, and will be releasing it next year (we hope).
