Details

Lindores Abbey 1494 is the signature single malt from Lindores Abbey Distillery, reintroducing the distillery's original core expression under a new name that honours the birthplace of Scotch whisky.

Named after the earliest written record of Scotch whisky in 1494, this release celebrates the legacy of Friar John Cor, the Lindores Abbey monk commissioned by King James IV to produce Aqua Vitae. The barley is grown in the same fields once cultivated by the abbey's monks, while the surrounding orchard inspires the whisky's fresh, fruit-forward character.

Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, STR red wine barriques and Oloroso sherry casks, the whisky offers a balanced style with notes of orchard fruit, vanilla, gentle spice and rich dried fruit. Distilled through Lindores' distinctive sister stills and bottled on-site in the Kingdom of Fife, it represents both the distillery's heritage and its modern craftsmanship.
