Lochlea Fallow edition

Their seasonal small batch releases showcase their whisky in four different ways each year. As a working farm, these expressions tie-in with exactly what is happening at Lochlea. In this Fallow Edition for 2022, they have used 100% fresh first fill oloroso sherry butts direct from Jerez, Spain. Autumn on the farm is when their fields are given time to recover after harvest and the crisp gold and purple leaves cover the ground. Therefore they developed a dark, rich whisky to warm them up as temperatures start to fall. It first opens up with ripe red fruits and freshly baked warm banana loaf. Then some dried fruits and leathery notes appear, alongside malt biscuits. The finish is medium-length, with hints of aniseed and moreish floral rose petals.
