Details
Lochlea's red wine cask release is an annual release inspired by the finishing of their mature spirit in red wine casks. Each year will bring a different expression of red wine, inspired by the casks they believe best compliment their style. For this first release they have taken their whisky matured in 1st-fill Bourbon barrels, then finished in carefully selected Grenache casks.
The result is a bright, fruit-forward whisky bursting with summer berries, strawberry shortcake, and sweet vanilla, finishing with spiced biscuits and rich oak. This first edition sets the tone for a vibrant and evolving series of red wine cask finishes.
