Macduff 14 Year Old, Dram Mor Single Cask #363544
Macduff distillery can often be overlooked for some of their more iconic Speyside neighbours. Established in 1960 by a group of brokers including seasoned distillery builder Brodie Hepburn, the seaside distillery has quietly gone about its business through the decades since, with five stills working tirelessly to bring us a subtle and sweet malt that encapsulates the Speyside palate perfectly.
Cask Number: #363544
Cask Type: Refill Bourbon Hogshead 13 years 11 months, 7 months in refill Moscatel Hogshead
Bottles: 165
Colour: Translucent butterscotch yellow.
Nose: Rich toasted cereal, golden syrup and dates are all up front covering a delicate vanilla. This is an aroma that calls for a comfortable chair, a good friend and nothing else to do.
Palate: Delicate vanilla and white chocolate intertwined with an astringency that strips your mouth clean of everything but a strange but welcome sweet fizziness and tropical fruit notes that dance all around the roof of your mouth.
Finish: Dry and sweet with a complex blend of spice, mango and apricot. It lingers and changes, growing with each sip into something really rather special.
