Macduff 2007 18 Year Old, Finn Thomson Cask #800228

Bottling this single cask of Macduff takes Finn Thomson back to the very beginning of the process of starting the Finn Thomson Whisky brand. This cask was the first he ever purchased as an independent bottler and marked the beginning of the long journey ahead.

While he was blessed to have access to some of the casks his grandfather laid down from his time in the industry, it was apparent that he would have to source further casks in order continue growing the business. Purchased years before his first release even hit the shelves, this cask has been sitting in the warehouse patiently waiting for the right time to be bottled.

Now at 18 years old, it is ready. Matured entirely in a refill hogshead, it has taken time for the nutty style of the spirit to take on the complexity required to be right for bottling. A slow maturation with just a subtle cask influence, this release allows us to see the incredible qualities of Macduff Distillery shine through.

This single cask release will always take Finn Thomson back to those early days plotting the relaunch of the family business and he's delighted that over time it has developed into a whisky fitting of such a memory.
