The Tasting Notes
Aromas of malted barley and austere green fruits, as is often the way with Macduff, however a little time in the glass allows this whisky to open up and notes of manuka honey, lemon oil and cedar appear.
The distillate’s fruity character dominates the palate bringing orange, underripe peach, green wine gums and honeyed toast.
The finish shows waves of wood spice and a touch of vanilla.
Details
Macduff Distillery, located in Macduff town, sits on the shore of the Deveron Estuary. The town’s harbour became home to herring fleets, the mainstay of the town’s economy. The distillery is relatively modern, having being built in 1960.
