Peallach (Ledaig) 8 Year Old, Chorlton Whisky
The Tasting Notes
The nose has ashes and smouldering tarmac, buttery pain aux raisins, bandages, salt and vinegar crisps, seawater, orange peel with toasted black spices (peppercorns, liquorice, cloves) in the background.
The palate is big, oily and really smoky – with charred lemons, dried Williams pears, morello cherries, black cardomom and black treacle.
The finish is fantastically salty, ashy and very, very long.
Details
This is heavily-peated single malt from Tobermory. Basically Ledaig under a different name, and fully-matured in a rioja cask.

A little water makes everything softer and cleaner, with citrus, smoke and brine. Pure elemental Ledaig in other words.
