This is Islay Sponge Part IV. It’s a 2003, 20 year old Port Charlotte which has matured full term in a trusty refill hogshead which they have bottled at natural cask strength.
Back in 2003 they were essentially distilling a kind of covert Brora at Bruichladdich, thankfully all that farmyard funk and dense Islay goodness has been put front and centre in this lovely cask. As such, they thought it would be a very fitting latest entry in their ongoing effort to bottle an example of each Islay distillery.
As you enjoy it, please imagine you are standing on a lighthouse being gently seduced by an appropriately slimy Leviathan tentacle.
