Portobello Butter Gin
Details
This bottle of Portobello Road Celebrated Butter Gin was distilled in tiny batches on our two thirty litre copper pot gin stills, Copernicus III & Copernicus IV at The Distillery on Portobello Road in the heart of London’s Notting Hill. Each batch is distilled one additional time with a block of unsalted English butter in the still, resulting in a subtle buttery taste and a velvety smooth feel.
Celebrated Butter Gin is part of our family of gins inspired by both the famous and the lesser known gin styles of the past. In Sketches by Boz, Charles Dickens eloquently describes the products on offer in a typical London Gin Palace of the 1830’s: “'The Cream of the Valley,’ ‘The Out and Out,’ ‘The No Mistake,’ ‘The Good for Mixing,’ ‘The real Knock-me-down,’ ‘The Celebrated Butter Gin,’ ‘The Regular Flare-up,’ and a dozen other, equally inviting and wholesome liqueurs.” Portobello Road Gin, The veritable gin of London.”
