Details

Located in Girvan, Ayrshire, Ladyburn distillery was founded in 1966. Dismantled in 1975, then demolished in 1976. It was equipped with two wash stills and two spirit stills and produced a single malt destined primarily for use in its own blends. Distilled on 10th May 1974, this version, which has wonderfully withstood the ravages of time, boasts all of the mysteries found in the best Lowlands, which is to say hugely diverse floral notes, multidimensional fruit, a very fresh vegetal and herbaceous register, and - the icing on the cake - a strength of character that reaches far beyond its natural boundaries.

Colour: Burnished gold with glints of topaz.

Profile: the unctuous and vinous initial nose evokes a Savennieres wine. Allowed to breathe, it develops citrus fruit and beesway, becoming increasingly floral. The concentrated attach is also fruity but robust. The mid-palate is autumnal (walnut). The energetic finish is very floral and at the same time hot (paprika). Sage perfumes the retronasal olfaction.

This whisky was disgorged and bottled under the supervision of Andrew W. Symington (Managing Director) in the Town of Pitlochry on 8th June 2018.
