Secret Orkney 2008 14 Year Old, Dram Mor Single Cask #148
Over two centuries of distilling expertise have gone into this Orkney single malt. Although the distillery of origin is masked, a secret for you to unravel at your leisure, they ensure your enjoyment of the fusion of rugged, wave-lashed Orkney, the coastal hints of a 30ppm Rhinns from Bruichladdich distillery and the subtle inflections of Bordeaux via the Chateau D'Yquem Sauternes cask.
Cask Number: #148
Cask Type: Refill Chateaux D' Yquem Sauterne Cask
Bottles: 305
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Light golden syrup
Nose: It is pretty mild on the nose. There is a hint of charred oak but not the powerful oak you would expect from this Orcadian spirit that has rested in Islay oak.
Palate: And there’s the smoke! Its a gentle but unavoidable peat smoke but there is so much more than that in this dram. Sweet, juicy stone fruits of peach and nectarine fill the mouth.
Finish: A rollercoaster of flavours which combine all the fruitiness of the pallet with that incredible cask. Quite simply sumptuous.
