Speymalt from Macallan 1950, Bottled 2009
The Tasting Notes
Rich dried fruit aromas, sultanas, prunes and figs. These are complemented by a delicate peat smoke edge.
The palate has toasted malt and fruit cake flavours which combine with a lingering hint of liquorice.
Details
On the instruction of Michael Urquhart's father, cask 1684 was filled with 'new-make' spirit distilled at Macallan Distillery on 10th November 1950. It was left to quietly mature at the distillery for many years before being transferred to Gordon & MacPhail's bonded warehouses in Elgin.
There the casks lay until the decision was finally taken to bottle this Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky on 29th September 2009.
Matured in a refill sherry butt.
