Strathisla 2005

From Gordon and MacPhail's 'Distillery Labels' range.
All whiskies in the Distillery Labels range are uniquely labelled. In years gone by many of these unique designs were used officially to bottle the whisky under license from the distillery.
Today these trusted relationships with distillers enables Gordon & MacPhail to bottle whiskies at various ages, strengths and vintages, all with their unique distillery label

Founded by George Taylor and Alexander Milton, it was originally known as Milton - named after the nearby Milton Castle. Strathisla was the name of the actual whisky produced and eventually became the name of the distillery.
Much of Strathisla's production is used for blending and the distillery is the home of the one of the most famous blends - Chivas Regal.
The distillery is the oldest in Northern Scotland and is certainly a delightful distillery to visit as it has an almost fairytale quality.

Distilled 2005

Colour - Dark Straw.
Nose: Sherry influences with baked apple and molasses initially. Ground coffee and cocoa powder aromas are complemented by citrus notes. Floral undertones of elder flower are present.
Palate: Peppery with green apple, orange marmalade, and banana flavours. A hint of dark chocolate is accompanied by root ginger on the finish.
Finish: Medium in length with an oily brazil nut edge.
Cask type - 1st fill sherry hogsheads.
