Details
The team at Little Brown Dog have never been particularly fond of secrets, which is why they usually try to avoid them wherever possible. That said, this release forms the third instalment in their playful series of 'Secret' Speyside bottlings. Each release has come from a different distillery, previously appearing as Unnamed Speyside, Very Secret Speyside and now Super Secret Speyside.
Distilled in 2008 and matured for 17 years, this Speyside single malt comes from a distillery in Rothes that adds 'Glen' to its name - though the exact distillery remains officially undisclosed. For anyone who enjoys a puzzle, Little Brown Dog even included What3Words coordinates on the label that point directly to the stillhouse.
This whisky was drawn from a single bourbon barrel that has been in Little Brown Dog's care for almost seven years. It was among the first casks the company ever purchased, and although it spent much of that time quietly maturing away, it recently returned to the team's warehouse before being selected for bottling.
The label artwork also carries a personal connection. One of the founders had the privilege of spending a day at the distillery with industry legend Ronnie 'Red Socks' Cox. While he had no involvement in this bottling, the label is intended as a respectful nod to someone who inspired the team early in their whisky journeys.
This release captures both the independent spirit of Little Brown Dog and their appreciation for the people and places that have shaped their path in whisky.
