The Cromarty Firth is one of the few places in the British Isles inhabited by porpoise. They can be seen quite regularly, swimming close to shore, less than a mile from Teaninich distillery. Founded in 1817 in the Ross-shire town of Alness, the distillery is now one of the largest in Scotland. Teaninich is an assertive single malt whisky with a spicy, smoky, satisfying taste.
