Teaninich 2009 Berry's Cask #11092

This soft Highland whisky has been reracked into a 136 litre Tokaji Gonchi for just shy of 12 months, and the impact on the spirit is profound. Aromas of ripe apricot, sultanas and sun warmed peaches float out of the glass, followed by some malty green fruits and a whiff of wood smoke, a little water brings out more thick dried apricots and pipe tobacco - very enticing. This theme continues on the palate, which shows a luxuriously thick mouth feel and plenty of stick ripe peach and plum notes, there's also a fresh burst of citrus towards the back of the palate which sets the mouth-watering. A full-bodied whisky often gives a long finish and this is no exception with vanilla pod, peach and some spice appearing alongside. A gloriously full-bodied dram which leaves one Hungary for more.
