A limited edition Cu Bocan 2005 Vintage.

Cu Bocan means 'Ghost dog' in Gaelic, and commemorates the fact that the last Wolf in Scotland was killed near the Tomatin Distillery.

Cù Bòcan has stalked residents of the remote Highland village of Tomatin for centuries, his legend embellished by the hellhound’s increasingly fractious behaviour.
Sightings are rare, once in a generation, always terrifying. A distillery worker, out walking late, was once relentlessly pursued by an imposing black beast, steam spiralling from flared nostrils, teeth bared.
Compelled beyond all natural reason to feel the hounds dense fur he stopped and reached out, hand trembling, only to see the ghostly spectre - Cù Bòcan - dissolve before his eyes leaving nothing but a vacuum of deathly silence and an inky blue cloud of smoke, soon spirited away across the peat moorland…

Tasting notes.
Nose - Butterscotch. Toffee apples and honey are met with a hint of vanilla that binds these big sweet flavours together. The faint smoke of heather burning lingers in the background throughout. In time chilli infused chocolate. Lemon syrup and a very slight hint of smoked bacon emerge.
Palate - A burst of candy floss and bitch sap sweetness is complemented by a gentle touch of peat smoke which brings a rounded earthy note to the taste. Dark chocolate. Winter spice and poached fruits leave a warming suggestion of christmas pudding.
Finish - Rounded and full. The combination of sweet and smoke is left to evolve on the palate with soft fruits continuing to play a role.

From Tomatin Distillery.
