Tomintoul Small Batch Cognac Cask
The Tomintoul Single Malt Whisky is a testament to their Master Distiller; Robert Fleming, whose family has been making whisky in the Speyside-Glenlivet region for four generations.
After years of searching for the purest natural water in Scotland they discovered the Ballantruan Spring. For millions of years this water has been flowing through the mountainside near Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands. In the heart of the Speyside Glenlivet Region, the Tomintoul Distillery was built to capture this unique resource.
This small batch bottling of Tomintoul has been created by specially selecting Tomintoul aged in exceptional ex-bourbon American oak barrels, which are then married and finished in hand selected Cognac casks from France. This process of 'finishing' creates a beautifully rich, complex and full-flavoured single malt.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Light and lifted with aromas of chestnut, lemon rind, blossom honey and amaretti biscuits with hints of chamomile and fennel.
Palate: Sweet choux pastry and Chantilly cream mingled with sugared almonds, butterscotch, golden raisins and rolling tobacco.
Finish: Layers of white chocolate, panettone and nutmeg fading into warming ginger spices.
