Details
A proper Mystery Malt for you here. All they can say for certain is it’s a lightly-peated Highland single malt, with a strange history that saw it accidentally reracked into a marsala hogshead. Oh, and it’s very Christmassy!
The nose is big and rich, with stroopwaffle, sloes and prunes, spiced apple, cinnamon toast, Pontefract cake, coal dust and a touch of farmyard funk. The palate is also huge and chewy, with salty and sweet toffee, lapsang souchong, treacle and dates, preserved plums and milk chocolate. A strange and happy accident!
This whisky started life in a bourbon hogshead, and ended up in a marsala hogshead for the last six years. The result was 265 bottles at a cask strength of 57.3%
