Westland 2014 1st Fill Banyuls Barrique Single Cask Nation
When I received notice that Single Cask Nation were doing a Westland Single Cask, it was a no brainer. Jess from SCN is also a massive Westland fan, and this cask pick is just amazing, but don't take our word for it, here are the tasting notes:
Colour: Irn bru dyed koi carp
Nose: Attention grabbing and bold. A fresh lumber yard which is also milling aromatic spices (think cardamom) charge the senses from within the glass. If you hang around, there’s freshly ground coffee to be found as well at this strange lumber yard.
Palate: The aromatic spice deepens with the addition of bitter chocolate and rich unctuous black forest cherries. Make no mistake, this is not a cakey sweet dram. There’s a delightful oakiness and classic Westland signature running through it to keep you from a chocolate
overload.
Finish: A rich and intense dram which has a pleasingly drying and cocoa packed finish. You’ll be reaching for another!
