Balblair 2014 12 Year Old, Little Brown Dog

Distilled in 2014 and bottled by Little Brown Dog, this 12 year old Balblair is the first release in their series of Calvados cask finishes.

Initially matured before spending time in an ex-White Port cask, the whisky was then transferred into a Calvados cask sourced directly from Normandy by the Little Brown Dog team. A little over a year of finishing has added layers of bright green apple, orchard fruit and a crisp, almost Champagne-like freshness to the spirit.

Despite an unexpectedly generous angel’s share during maturation, the resulting whisky more than justified the journey. The Calvados influence complements Balblair’s naturally fruity character, creating a whisky that balances spirit and cask influence beautifully.

The label artwork draws inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry, celebrating the Normandy connection and the origins of the Calvados cask that helped shape this distinctive release.
