Details
Glasgow 1770 White Port Cask Batch 1 is a limited release single malt Scotch whisky from The Glasgow Distillery, matured in casks that previously held White Port.
White Port is a fortified wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley, produced from native white grape varieties including Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Gouveio and Rabigato. These wines are typically made to preserve freshness and acidity, with some expressions aged in oak to develop additional complexity.
For this release, the whisky has been matured in 225 litre French oak hogsheads that previously held White Port, allowing the influence of the fortified wine cask to interact with the spirit during maturation.
This release highlights the use of White Port casks in Scotch whisky production, showcasing a distinctive cask-driven style from the Glasgow 1770 range.
