Welcome to the 2021 release of their Ian Hunter series,. a 33 Year Old non chill filtered whisky with creamy liquorice notes, fully matured in refill ex bourbon casks so the original character shines through. In this series they celebrate the legacy of one man, the last of the Johnston family to own and manage the Laphroaig distillery, Ian Hiunter. This is the story of a character as unique as their whisky.
Set into a beautifully crafted book that will document a part of Ian's rich legacy. Every year a new chapter will be told, uncovering the extensive history behind Laphroaig and the characters who created it, making this a collection unlike any other, and one that is treasured by Laphroaig fans across the world.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Smoky and herbal, with notes of Amsterdamer pipe tobacco, eucalyptus, mint, fresh hay, a hint of jasmine but also autumn leaves and dry flowers along with sweet notes of vanilla, maple syrup, toffee, candy sugar, honey and black pepper.
Palate: Peaty and sweet, barbecued honey glazed gammon with sweet spicy marinade together with citric and fruity notes of lemon and lychee, a touch of iodine, cedar wood and earthy floral notes, bonbon and toffee sweetness.
Finish: The finish was floral and ashy with wood smoke lingering.
Colour: Amber / deep gold.
