Bruichladdich 14 Year Old Yellow Submarine III
The Tasting Notes
Beautifully balanced and rounded, honeyed oats and buttery shortbread open on the nose, with pink peppercorns and a hint of ginger punctuating this sweet character.
Creamy crème Brulé adds to the spirit’s luxuriously smooth texture, complemented with crisp apple and pear on the palate.
Gentle spice and toasted hazelnut settle on the finish while a hint of sea salt linger.
Details
Released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Bruichladdich’s reopening, Yellow Submarine III revisits one of the distillery’s most memorable modern legends.
The story began in 2005 when Islay fishermen John Baker and Harold Hastie discovered a bright yellow Ministry of Defence submarine drifting off the island’s coast and brought it ashore. The unusual event inspired Bruichladdich’s Whisky of Mass Distinction II – Yellow Submarine, with the first bottles famously presented to the naval crew sent to recover the vessel.
Yellow Submarine III continues the playful Whisky of Mass Distinction series, a collection born from the distillery’s irreverent spirit and colourful history. Distilled using 100% Scottish barley, this 14 year old single malt was matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks (75%) and French red wine casks (25%), before being bottled entirely on Islay.
