Details
For 35 years this remarkable malt has lain undisturbed, quietly perfecting its palate and colour in a sea-washed warehouse at Islay's northernmost distillery. Literally 'mouth of the river', Bunnahabhain Distillery dates back to 1881 and takes its water from the clear springs trapped high in the mountain rocks, giving it a taste less peaty than its island counterparts.
Only now has their Distillery Manager deemed this sherry cask, filled in 1966, to be at the peak of its maturity. As suchm the cask was gently woken from its slumber and hand-bottled by the distillery craftsmen at cask strength.
Distilled, matured and bottled at Bunnahabhain Distillery, this 1966 limited edition malt has never left the island and is as unspoilt and individual as Islay herself.
